I was born in Laheriasarai, Darbhanga, in a lower middle class family. My humble parents late Baleshwar Prasad and late Jagat Mani Devi, were kind enough to bring me up and taught me the golden lessons of spirituality and humanity besides supporting me in all respects to complete my education well and move forward in life.
Some professional details are as under:
- Ø Graduated from Patna Medical College in 1980 and was fortunate enough to get admission in Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India (from 1982 to 1985) in MD-cum-Residency Program in Medicine.In fact, before joining Residency cum MD program at Post Graduate Institute medical Education and Research, Chandigarh I was engaged with a research project in the Department of Cardiology for six month from 1st January 1983 to 30th June 1983. Actually, this was a project on Oral Propafenone in Ventricular Arrhythmia. This was done under the guidance of Prof. R. P. Sapru, Associate professor, Department of Cardiology at PGI, Chandigarh. Interestingly, this was the opening of my research activity in clinical medicine, which was followed by my MD in Internal Medicine at the same Institution.
- Ø While working as Registrar, Cardiology at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna, during December, 1996 to June, 1999. I was awarded Young Cardiologist Award for my original work on a new sign in ASD in the year 1999.
- Ø My passion in the field of Cardiac Arrhythmia dates back to 2010, when I started working on Atrial Fibrillation in the State of Bihar, India. I got the opportunity to be an observer at Krannert Institute of Cardiology at Indianapolis, USA in March 2010 to be in the procedure of Radiofrequency Ablation in AF.
- I was able to organize several clinical as well as EP programs on RFA in Cardiac Arrhythmia. I presented my clinical data of Atrial Fibrillation at ESC congress 2012 at Munich.
- My association with ACC started in 2011 when I presented my papers on Technique of Percutaneous Mitral Commissurotomy, followed by Acute MI with normal coronary arteries in 2012. They started working for ACC Pinnacle Registry (2013), India and got an appreciation for my work which was published in circulation.
- My work in Hypertension was also exemplary. I was part of the Cardiological Society of India – Big BP Study (2015) and Recent India Heart study (Jun 2018 – April 2019). My work and data on Radial Intervention done at Paras HMRI, Patna, was published and presented. Study on CV Risk Evaluation in CAD done at Paras HMRI was published in Indian Heart journal.
- I was a part of Pinnacle India ACC registry (2013) for which I had recognition as founding quality improvement program pilot participant for showing outstanding commitment.
- I continued to be part of ESC programs as Chair and Reviewer of Abstracts from 2018 to 2020. Currently I am PI for a EORP study on NSTEMI
- I was part of several research projects with Dr Rajay Narain, Global Health alliances, St George’s hospital; London. I was collaborator in the research project “CVS risks in young Indians across continent – initial result,” which was presented at European society of Atherosclerosis
- My work on Electrocardiographic Localization of Coronary Angiographic Site of Lesion In Acute ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction was greatly appreciated and for this I was awarded PhD in Medicine from LNMU, Dharbhanga, Bihar in 2015.
- I have been attending Grand Rounds in Cardiology as well as Observer in EP lab at Stanford during vacation in September every year including EP west program in 2019.
- I served the Cardiological Society of India as a Member Governing Council from 2008 to 2014. Also had the privilege of being the Associate Editor of Indian Heart Journal from 2015 to 2018
- Remained associated with Paras Hospital, Patna as Consultant from 2013 to 2015 and also as Director, Cardiology, from 2016 to 2018.
- Currently, I am a Senior Consultant in Cardiology at Medanta Super-speciality Hospital at Patna and also Convenor, Preventive Cardiology, Cardiological Society of India (CSI)
